Irony, Louisiana is a story of cause, effect, fate, and free will. After burying his blind sister, and diseased mother and father, our protagonist, Jackson Dife, leaves the desert that he grew up in, and returns to New Orleans, the birthplace of his late family members, to exact revenge on the man he feels is responsible. His nemesis is a powerful oil monopoly owner and politician, whose negligence and greed has poisoned the city. After a failed assassination attempt, and a vivid near death hallucination, his mission changes. Jackson immediately begins making music in New Orleans. He attracts major attention from his peers and social authorities when it becomes evident that all of the music he is creating is the prophecy of a potentially violent transition into a new era of evolution; biologically, technologically, and spiritually.
